The sky is so dark and clear tonight so whipped out the telephoto lens and started taking a few long exposures. Think this is my favourite. It’s a close-up of the constellation of Orion. The 3 stars centre-top-ish are Orion’s ‘Belt’. The bright, slightly fuzzy area very near the bottom is the Orion Nebula (1500 light years away). It’s been a long-term goal to capture this.. I reckon I can check it off now!
What blows me away here is not just the number of stars, but the sheer variety of them… If you look closely you can see different colours, some are white, some are yellow, there’s a few very small red ones as well. What a display our Heavenly Father puts on for us every night. And what a blessing it is to know that because He holds all this together, He’s got our lives held together as well. I for one, needed to be reminded of that tonight..
"Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows” (James 1:17).
Not a bad way to round off Christmas I reckon :) PTL
